West Linn Varsity Boys Soccer kicks off league play with a 5-0 thrashing of Tualatin

Going into last night’s game, the West Linn Varsity Boys Soccer (5-3) team had a 4-3 record and was about to begin league play with their first game since last Thursday against Woodburn. Against Tualatin (1-6-1), the Lions were hungry to take the pitch.
“We went four practices without a game and we were really excited to finally go out and play,” Greg Bean, head coach, said. “The guys were ready to play against someone other than themselves.”
The Lions excitement translated to five goals, coming from Jack Moothart, sophomore, who played left wing for the first time this season. Moothart was backed up by goals from Lucas Evans, senior, Jake Bray, senior, and Alejandro Lee, sophomore, who all had a goal for the night. The team’s offensive explosion was no surprise to Bean.
“We have been really good offensively this season compared to other seasons where our focus was more on the defensive side of the ball.”
Despite moving up to a 5-3 record, Bean says the team can improve even more as the season continues.
“We have to be more consistent.”
West Linn’s next match will be against the Lake Oswego Lakers (4-2-2) next Tuesday at Lake Oswego at 7 p.m.
