Speech and Debate brings home awards at weekend Oktoberfest tournament
The Speech and Debate Team took a trip to the Oktoberfest Tournament over the weekend, taking the competition by storm at Tillamook High School. The team made a trip of the Nov. 16th tournament, spending the night in Tillamook and taking in the factories, hotels, and beaches that make up Tillamook Oregon.
“Our trip to the Tillamook Oktoberfest S&D tournament was punctuated with a visit to the Tillamook Cheese Factory, late night hotel antics, competing in costumes, and receiving some top awards!” Adviser, Jan Bosson said.
Winners include Joe Erickson, sophomore, who took first place in the dramatic interpretation, Taylor Bosson, sophomore, who took first place in the novice radio category, and Hunter Bosson, senior, who took home a second place award in the extemporaneous category.
“The students used this tournament as a way to compete in new categories and were, I believe, quite successful,” Bosson said, “While not everyone came home with an award, everyone did a great job of preparing and presenting their speeches”
