Moda Center update
The West Linn Boys Basketball team has, for the fourth year in a row, advanced to the Moda Center to compete for the state championship. Not only does this great opportunity for the players but also creates great culture for WLHS’s students, staff and community.
“It creates a positive student culture that we can all rally around,” Annikke Olson, assistant principal, said. “ It ‘s more positive recognition for [WLHS].”
With the Thursday game being at 1:30 p.m. vs. Central Catholic and, depending on the results of Thursday’s game, Friday’s game may be held at 3:15 p.m., administration has encouraged teachers to be flexible surrounding student attendance. Should the boys win on Friday, they will play in the state championship at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
As an added incentive to attend these games, Principal Bailey will be distributing Spirit squad tank tops. They will feature a WL on the front and don the number six on the back to represent that the student section is the sixth man.
On Thursday for $8, there will be a rooter bus taking students to and from the Moda Center. Tickets are available now, and you are encouraged to buy them soon as they will sell out according to Jerolyn Alie, bookkeeper. The bus will leave at 12:15 outside the Performing Arts building. The bus for Friday’s game has yet to be determined.
For people not using the rooter bus as a mode of transportation, tickets will be $7 at the door and parking will cost $6.
Your donation will support the student journalists of West Linn High School. Your contribution will allow us to continue to produce quality content by purchasing equipment, software, and continuing to host our website on School Newspapers Online (SNO).
