West Linn’s production of “Distracted” promises to be a worthy distraction

As we go through the motions of our everyday lives with packed school schedules, sports, extra curricular activities and homework, it is easy for us as students to be caught up and let days go by in a haze. Some may easily be distracted and drown in the hype about the latest drama, newest apps and the current fashions.

In West Linn’s production of “Distracted,” everyday high school life is put into true perspective as the audience joins the main character, Jesse, on obstacles. This production is about a young couples’ son who has difficulty at school and seeks to find help for the intensity of his distractions. They wonder if it is something as major as Attention Deficient Disorder or as minor as simple seasonal allergies. Maybe Jesse is simply just a normal, run-of-the-mill high school boy that is looking forward to growing and aspires to become something big in the world.

“Distracted” cast members include, Ashley Welp as Mama, Thommie Olson as Dad, Noah Radcliffe as Jesse, Camille Bradshaw as Dr. Zavala, Waitress Carolyn, Melissa Cozzi as Mrs. Holly, Dr. Waller and Nurse, Ryan Pierson as Dr. Broder, Dr. Jinks and Dr. Karnes, Kaelyn Rushforth as Sherry, Dinah Sigmund as Vera and Gracie Sleeper as Natalie. The audience will look forward to a fun-filled, quick paced play. This play is designed to fit its title and be fast paced with many actors entering and exiting scenes.

“The play includes a good group of small actors which showcases their skills. The play is a timely production that deals with current issues and will connect with parents especially.” Jessica Murray, director, said.

“Distracted” premires tonight and runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Black Box Studio at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase online or in the box office at the prices of $5 for students and $8 for adults.

About the Contributor
Lenaya LeBlanc, Reporter
Rain and clouds are in the forecast for Lenaya Leblanc, senior, because she wants to stay in Oregon for college. LeBlanc has high hopes for the end of the year and is determined to do her best. LeBlanc loves science, so it’s only natural that she wants to use her love for science as a nurse. She doesn’t know exactly what college she wants to go to; she only knows she wants to stay in Oregon so she can stay close to her family. She has a family of four, living in Oregon. They are her mom, dad, sister Kiana, and grandma. She gets along with her sister pretty well. “As she gets older we are getting closer, and I like being there for her,” LeBlanc said. She sees her grandma at least twice a week, and says that they are really close.  LeBlanc is also “best friends with her mom.” Oregon may have rain and clouds, but for LeBlanc it is a lot more than that. It is where her family lives, and it is her home. And it looks like it is going to be her home for a long time to come.
