In a developing story, Mike Lord has just resigned from his position as head baseball coach for personal reasons. During the past four seasons, Lord-coached West Linn teams have gone 76-40 and there have been nine Lion players named to an All-State team.
Under his reign, he guided the Lions to numerous playoff visits. Last year, the team went 20-8 in the regular season before falling to Jesuit in the second round of the playoffs.
Recently, however, rumors had spread that the coach was on his way out. Adding to the fire, players from last year’s team received a survey from the athletic department asking about the previous season. According to Rob Holstrom, athletic director, this survey was sent in conjunction with the baseball coaching staff to gather information about previous seasons.
“The position will be officially posted at the end of the week,” Holstrom said. The athletic department hopes to close the position in two to three weeks. Dates for the interview process have yet to be determined.
