Aaronette Vonleh, WLHSnow Staff
It’s 6:30 and Aaronette Vonleh is already in the gym warming up for basketball.
When Vonleh was 10 years old she started taking after her two siblings in basketball she first played on a club teamed and now being a Freshman in high school she plays for West Linn on Monday-Thursday she plays on her team as a center position.
In the summer for her other team called FAST she also plays as a center and travels places like California for tournaments, this summer she went to Cali and won first place in her week long tournaments.
In addition to her passion for basketball, Aaronette has a close bond with her family.
This summer she went to Jamaica with her mom, sister, grandma, brother and dad. In Jamaica she went to a wedding for her cousins and she was in Jamaica for another week after that.
In Jamaica she also went to the beach and climbed a waterfall, she said the waterfall was very fun but scary and you had to hold hands the whole way up,
From basketball to travelling with her famlly, Vonleh brings these experiences with her to the WLHSnow staff as a first year journalism student.
What made her choose journalism is her love to write and her hard work ethic, She claims hard works makes up everything and is in her daily life whether it be basketball, family or writing.
Vonleh’s favorite writing piece so far was when she wrote Q&As on a student. While she has some experience writing features and interviewing her peers, she wants to bring her passions into her writing.
“I would like to write about sports more in the future.”
