Alex Smith, Reporter

New to the Amplifier staff this year, Alex Smith, sophomore, hopes to write articles for the sports section. Basketball, baseball and track and field are among the sports Smith are interested in covering. He enjoys shooting hoops in his spare time, playing soccer, and participating in the 100 m and long jump contests in track and field. He also used to enjoy drumming in middle school and playing baseball and basketball competitively. Smith believes that it is important that people know what’s going on in the world. Since he follows sports frequently, he wanted to experience covering events from a writer’s point of view. Some things on Smith’s bucket list include attending another game at Fenway Park to see his favorite team, the Boston Red Sox play.  In 2007, Smith had the opportunity to sit in the owner’s box next to the home dugout, and acquired a signature from David Ortiz, designated hitter. It was an experience he will never forget and he would be ecstatic to attend another game. Smith would also like to go to Italy at some point to find out what town some of his mom’s family is from. If pursuing a career in journalism isn’t in his future, Smith is interested in becoming an engineer or architect because he enjoys math and his mom is an engineer.
