Lions late comeback falls short, losing 35-45 to Tigard
On a stormy and rainy Homecoming Night, the West Linn Varsity Football team (5-2,3-2 Three Rivers League) fell to Tigard (7-0, 5-0 TRL) 35-45. The Lions started hot in the first quarter, with quarterback Tim Tawa, sophomore, throwing to wide receiver Cody Coppedge, junior, for a touchdown. Tawa ran in for one more.
At halftime, the Lions only trailed by a field goal but the third quarter was dominated by Tigard as they scored three touchdowns giving them the 38-14 lead.
In the fourth quarter the Lions were rejuvenated with a rushing touchdown from sophomore running back Elijah Molden and junior quarterback Brooks DeBisschop throwing two touchdowns. The Lions comeback was too late, however, as they lost 35-45.
With only two games left before playoffs, the Lions still have a chance to redeem themselves Friday at 7 p.m. at Tualatin.
