Class of 2015 builds up to June 1 graduation
Seniors have only days until they are finished with high school for good
At 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, May 28 seniors left class to pick up their caps and gowns and say their goodbyes on the football field. However, this won’t be the last reunion before summer, as the WLHS Class of 2015 will graduate Monday, June 1, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center. Before graduation, the Evening of Excellence was also held on May 28 at 6:30 p.m to recognize honor graduate students, students receiving department awards and students receiving local scholarships.
Lou Bailey, Principal, Mark Horak, Athletic Director, Kevin Mills and Annikke Olson, Assistant Principals, Holly Schied, Athletic Secretary, and Sandie Yamauchi, Student Services Secretary, have been planning this year’s graduation since the beginning of the school year. The administration and other staff coordinate distribution of graduation gowns, diplomas, invitations and prepare the programs as well as check for any mistakes made along the way.
“The performances for this year should be really great,” Schied said. The Symphonic Choir will perform selected songs while students from the Jazz Choir will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The orchestra will perform “Pomp and Circumstance,” the traditional graduation song.
According to Schied, the best way for the Class of 2015 to prepare for their graduation is to continue their school work and finish out the year strong.

Throughout the game, the Lions knew that it wasn’t just about their victory today. “I think [playing for cancer] makes it bigger than just a game,” McGraw said. “Knowing that you have a bigger impact in this world than just who you are as one person.”](https://wlhsnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/I70A1454-1-1200x800.jpg)

The students brought a variety of paints and mixed their own custom colors. “Instead of brushstrokes, we’re doing more dabbing, because it gives [a] better impression of tree foliage, rather than looking like actual brush strokes, because if we’re painting trees, we need it to look like trees,” Crawford said.](https://wlhsnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/IMG_2397-1200x900.jpg)
