Lions clutch in extra innings

In the first round of the 2013 OSAA softball playoffs, the West Linn Lions (15-10, 11-4 Three Rivers League) emerged victorious over the Jesuit Crusaders (17-10, 9-6 Metro League) 5-4.

West Linn scored two runs in the top of the second and third inning to make the score 4-0. The Crusaders rallied in the bottom of the third, scoring three runs and finally tying it in the fourth. Briana Barzola, senior, caught a game changing pop fly in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Caroline Freiling, sophomore, hit an RBI double, sending Sarah Von Ahn, freshman, to home plate to score the game winning run.

The Lions play the Lincoln Cardinals (22-3, 8-0 Portland Interscholastic League) and the time is to be announced.
