Baseball loses heartbreaker to Sheldon, 2-1 in the state final
Karsen Lindell, Class of 2015, pitched a complete game for the Lions, but it still wasn’t enough as the fell in the State Championship game to Sheldon 2-1.
In the OSAA State Championship game, on June 6 at the Volcanoes Stadium in Salem, the West Linn Lions (24-8, 13-4 Three Rivers League) fell to Sheldon (27-5, 19-2 Southwest Conference) 2-1.
Karsen Lindell, Class of 2015, pitched a complete game for the Lions. However it still wasn’t enough. The Lions were offensively unable to score off Sheldon. With eight hits the Lions left many runners stranded on base. It was the bottom of the seventh inning that was costly for West Linn. Going in tied at one, Sheldon was able to capitalize off of West Linn’s errors, scoring off of an overthrown ball, winning the state championship.
The Lions finalize off a 24-8 season with a second place state finish, and as Three Rivers League Champions. They look to be in competition for a state title next year, returning seven out of nine starters.
