Spending time in the sun during “Baby Week”, a health class tradition, Kendall Gordon, senior, holds her baby named Jeffers. “The baby assignment is actually a smaller assignment within a bigger, family planning project,” Kayeleigh Owens, health class teacher, said. “So its a 3 week project that students in child development do, where they learn to have a career, from that career they get a budget, they budget for a month of family planning.” The baby project is a branch of the family planning project where students take care of a baby, which can be anything from a teddy bear to a doll, for five days at school and at home. The assignment began on April 23. “You have to record everything you do for 3 days of those 5 days,” Gordon said, “and Ms. Owens has everybody watching around the school, so you can’t slack off.”
