West Linn Farmer’s Market moves to Sundays
The West Linn Farmer’s Market has been moved this year from Wednesdays to Sundays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market has been pushed back to better suit the needs of both vendors and attendees.
“Attendees want to see more farmers, but we were often told last year by farmers that our hours didn’t work for them,” Shannon Knight, director of the Farmer’s Market, said. “They are out at 5 or 6 a.m. farming and having a market that ended at 8 p.m. meant they didn’t get home until way too late with their early mornings.”
Planners of the market also felt uncomfortable competing with Oregon City’s Farmers Market, which was held at the same time. Changing the date to Sundays means that most of the businesses in the Willamette area will be closed, which eases the burden on parking and traffic issues.
“So far the feedback has been very positive, so we think it was the right decision,” Knight said.
The Farmer’s Market opened this year on May 21 and will continue until Sep. 13.
