McGregor-Nurmagamedov recap
A Dark Moment for the UFC

From UFC Press Packet
In his first fight since his bought with Floyd Mayweather in last August, Conor McGregor fought Khabib Nurmagomedov in UFC 229
This was also a very emotional fight for McGregor and Nurmagomedov due to trash talk and a rivalry between the two and their crews. As usual, McGregor’s insults and trash talk made emotions run high for the fighters and fans alike.
Looking past all of the hype that follows any McGregor fight, the fight wasn’t very entertaining due to the two different fighting styles. McGregor’s striking and Nurmagomedov’s grappling lead to a pretty boring fight to watch. Nurmagomedov took McGregor down early in the round, and the fight, staying on the mat for the rest of the round.
Nurmagomedov won the fight in the fourth round via submission, and immediately after McGregor tapped, Nurmagomedov stood up and threw his mouthguard at McGregor’s corner.
Then Dillon Danis, McGregor’s training partner exchanged words with Nurmagomedov leading to him jumping out of the octagon and attacking Danis and other members of McGregor’s corner. Which also led to Nurmagomedov’s corner jumping into the octagon and attacking McGregor. This was the worst thing that Nurmagomedov could have done. MMA has had a stigma around it, with people claiming the fighters are uneducated tough guys who beat eachother up and this attack has merely served to reinforce this stigma toward the sport and the competitors. The attack will also have large repercussions for Nurmagomedov with the Nevada Athletic Commission potentially punishing Nurmagomedov for the attack. Beyond that, without a doubt Nurmagomedov will be fined by the UFC for his attack and he also may not be able to get a visa to fight in the US again
