Soccer has been a staple for Wally Milner, sophomore, since second grade. Milner spends his time focused on soccer or school, leaving no room for extra hobbies, but he doesn't mind. This dedication to the popular game has landed Milner a position in the JV soccer team.
“I love soccer,” Milner said. “It's a lifelong passion of mine.”
While soccer is his favorite activity, it’s not where he sees himself in the future. As history and any class with writing are among his favorite, Milner looks forwards to a career in writing.
“The dream is to publish stories,” Milner said. “I've always liked writing. As a kid, I was a writer.”
As the Beat Manager for WLHSnow, Milner keeps track of stories coming in. His second year taking journalism, he loves that he has more free reign on his writing, and that can follow in the steps of his favorite journalists.
“I'm having a good time so far,” Minler said, “ I have a more room to write. I also get the chance to follow in the footsteps of Walter Cronkite and Peter Jennings.”
If writing doesn’t work out as planned, Milner would love to be a teacher.
“I’m an average student,” Milner said “but at the very least I can enable other people to go further than I did.”
Be it a career in writing or teaching, Milner will always hold soccer close.
